State v. J.A. – First Degree Rape
My Story
I am a South Carolina native, born and raised in the small town of Pawley’s Island. With law school in mind, I attended the University of South Carolina from 2013 – 2017 where I studied Criminology and Criminal Justice with a Minor in Leadership Studies. I then made my way to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2018 where I attended the Campbell University School of Law. From day one, it was always my intention to diligently study and passionately practice in the field of criminal law.
I centered my law school curriculum around criminal justice topics and participated as often as I could with real world practice. While studying at Campbell, I worked with both the Wake County Public Defender and District Attorney’s offices. I was also a member of the Campbell Law Restorative Justice Clinic, traveling to schools across Wake County to aid in the mediation of student conflict resolution.
I graduated from Campbell in the Spring of 2021 and subsequently passed the July 2021 bar exam. I was admitted into the North Carolina State Bar in October of 2021 and immediately began work as a private criminal defense attorney. As a defense attorney, I have had first-hand experience handling a variety of criminal matters in both district and superior court. My legal practice includes misdemeanor and felony criminal charges such as: impaired driving offenses, drug offenses, simple assault, assault with a weapon, theft offenses, domestic violence issues, burglary, stalking, harassment, communicating threats, and unlawful carry of a firearm.
I am passionate about criminal law, and it has been my primary focus of study and practice for the past eight years. I appreciate the weight and consequence of criminal charges and it is my duty to protect your rights and fight for the best possible outcome. It is my job to zealously work alongside you as the client, listen closely to understand your story, and mount the strongest legal defense available. Through my service, It is my sincere aim to minimize the negative consequences a criminal charge can so often impart on a person’s life. As your attorney, I will stand between you and the criminal justice system and lend a powerful voice to the charges you are now facing.
