An arrest warrant for a 38-year-old man from Raleigh accuses him of two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of first-degree sex offense with a child.

The alleged victim was 12 years old during the first half of 2015 when the crimes allegedly occurred. She was 13 when the crimes were reported to have occurred over the Christmas holidays last year. The man has been arrested and is currently being held on a bond of $1 million.

Police said that the alleged victim and the man knew each other before the incidents allegedly took place.

When facing sex crime charges, it’s important to understand the difficulties that can arise before you even go to court. An arrest can cause serious problems with your job, your social circle and your family members. The media reports may make you feel as though everyone believes you are guilty before your case goes to trial.

These are a just a couple of the reasons why it is so important to find experienced legal representation when you are facing charges for sex offenses. The defense strategy your attorney uses will be based on your story versus the evidence and witnesses the prosecution has.

Those who are charged with sex offenses against children have the same rights as other defendants. They are innocent until proven guilty, and they have the right to a fair trial and the right to appeal an unfavorable verdict. Your attorney can provide more information on how to proceed, including whether the prosecution is offering a plea bargain in the case.
